Council Tax
What is Council Tax? Council Tax is a property tax with a personal element that contributes towards the financing of local government services. Unless full benefit or an exemption applies it is payable on any domestic property. Within Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council's area there are over 44,000 dwellings attracting a net income of over £39 million. How is Council Tax calculated? The Valuation Office Agency will allocate your dwelling to one of eight bands according to its open market capital value at 1st April 1991 (see below). If your property was built after this date it would be subject to the same valuation criteria and assessed using 1991 values. Valuation Band Range of Value A Up to & including £40,000 B £40,001 to £52,000 C £52,001 to £68,000 D £68,001 to £88,000 E £88,001 to £120,000 F £120,001 to £160,000 G £160,001 to £320,000 H More than £320,000 Should you wish to query or appeal against the banding of your property you should contact the Listing Officer at: Enkalon House 92 Regent Road Leicester LE1 7DD Tel No 0116 2800200 Fax No 0116 2800299 Alternatively you can view the Valuation Office website.
