Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council 50th celebration

Come and celebrate 50 years of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council with a day of family fun, live music and food stalls.

This year Hollycroft Park will host a famly festival to celebrate Hinckley & Bosworth's 50th anniversary.

Wild Play 2024 - Ponds and Water

Wild Play children's activities at Burbage Common - Ponds and Water, run by Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust.

Booking is essential. 

Pond-dipping and boat-making, plus land-based water play. 

For children aged two to 12 years. Cost £6 per child, maximum of 20 places available. 

Children must be accompanied by a booked adult. One adult per family group, up to a maximum of three children. Non-activity younger/older siblings can attend, but no resources will be provided. 

There are two sessions:

  • The first session from 10:00 to 11:30
  • The second session from 12:30 to 14:00

Places are limited, so please call 01455 255728 to book (a non-refundable payment will be taken on booking).

Meet at the Visitor's Centre. Please come dressed for being outside - waterproof jacket and boots, sun cream and sun hat for children, and accompanying adult. 

No dogs are allowed at Wild Play sessions.

Proms in the Park 2024

An evening concert featuring Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra.

Crowds gathered in Hollycroft Park for music performance

This evening concert will feature Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Wind Orchestra. Gates at 5pm with concert to begin at 6pm and finish 8.30pm. There will be a half an hour interval where tea, coffee or an ice cream can be purchased. Local business, Bond Street Distillery will also be in the park from 5pm with their ourdoor bar, serving their well known gins as well as other alcoholic and soft drinks; please support local by purchasing drinks at the event. ID checks will be in place.

You are welcome to bring your own picnic and drinks, and we would encourage any alcohol to be drank responsibly. 

The event is free to attend, and no booking is necessary, however, capacity is limited in the auditorium area and will be on a first come, first served basis.

Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead, please pick up after your dog. 

Please queue to enter the auditorium from the gate entrance on Hollycroft just before Westray Drive, entry into the auditorium area is not possible from other points.

The park car park will only be available for Blue Badge holders and a member of staff will be positioned on the gate, spaces are limited. We recommend that people use public transport or walk to the event where possible. If you are driving please park in town centre car parks and walk to the event rather than using residential on street parking. There will be temporary no waiting or loading restrictions in place on Westray drive from 3pm on the day of the event.

Union flags will be handed out at the event and made from sustainable forestry. Flags can be taken home and are 100% recyclable or biodegradable. However, if you would like to return your flag/s so we can re-use them please hand to a member of staff on leaving.

We politely ask you to take any litter away with you or dispose of in an appropriate bin. There will be portable toilets and handwashing facilities on site and the toilets at the pavilion will be open for the evening too.

Hinckley and Burbage Lions charity walk

Walkers are being encouraged to don their boots to help the drive to beat cancer this summer.

Hinckley and Burbage Lions Club are running their annual Bosworth Battlefield Charity Walk, where groups and individuals are being invited to take part.

You can either do a short one-and-a-half-mile stroll through gorgeous countryside, or for the hardier, there is the option of a five miler.

The walk starts at 10am from the battlefield.
