Q: What is the Local Development Framework (LDF)?

Answer:

The LDF consists of a series of documents that sets out detailed policies and specific proposals for guiding the future development and use of land within the borough up to 2026.  It will guide most day-to-day planning decisions and policies.  The different types of documents that will be included in the LDF are:

  • Local development scheme
  • Development plan documents (includes area action plans, Core Strategy, adopted proposals map, site allocations)
  • Supplementary planning documents (includes village design statements)
  • Statement of community involvement
  • Annual monitoring reports

The LDF system was introduced by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and is a replacement for the Local Plan.
