The Atkins Building
The latest conservation project
Hinckley and its surrounding villages were nationally known for the manufacture of hosiery and footwear. With the contraction of these industries, many fine factories have been left empty. The council believes that these buildings are a major resource which can be re-used.
Working with several public sector funding partners, the Atkins building, recently granted Grade ll listed status by English Heritage, has been converted into a mixed use building providing a combination of fully serviced creative businesses starter workspace, offices, performance and exhibition areas, meeting spaces and a café/restaurant.
The Atkins site is also being developed as a new home for the Hinckley and North Warwickshire College.
