About Burbage Common
Burbage Common is Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council's largest countryside site and is located on the outskirts of Hinckley, within easy reach from both east and west midlands.
This mix of semi-natural woodland and unspoilt grassland is 80 hectares (200 acres) in size. There are picnic areas, horse riding trails and several miles of public footpaths on this site.
Burbage Common provides excellent opportunity for the following activities:
- Walking
- Bird watching
- Horse riding
- Orienteering
- Environmental activities and education
Burbage Common is a great place to come and enjoy local wildlife, including many species of mammals, birds, fungi, and invertebrates.

Best times to visit
- Spring: for woodland wildflowers, including spectacular displays of wood anemone, bluebells, orchids and more
- Summer: wildflower meadows hum to the sound of bees and grasshoppers and there are more than 20 species of butterflies
- Autumn: impressive numbers of fungi can be seen
