Dog mess is an issue around the borough and around the country as a whole. Irresponsible dog owners appear to be unaware of their social responsibilities and the effect their actions, or lack of them, have upon their fellow residents. Our campaign activities focused on engaging the public to remind them of their responsibilities, as well as stepping up enforcement efforts.
Campaign activities
- Association with local neighbourhood watch groups to encourage reports of irresponsible dog owners
- ‘Responsible dog owner’ assembly talks at primary schools
- ‘Clean up’ poster competition with all primary schools visited
- Scheduled patrols at nominated hotspot sites
- Children's campaign slogans posted and rotated on social media
- Replace or refresh old dog fouling signage across the borough
- Take part in Keep Britain Tidy trial of ‘We’re watching you' (eyes signage)
- Press release articles promoting all the activities
