What to do if you are homeless
If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness within the next 28 days, you will need to get in contact with our Housing Options Team.
We run drop-in surgeries at the council offices in Hinckley where you can get advice and assistance to help prevent homelessness. You are seen on a first-come, first-served basis and no appointment is necessary.
One of our Housing Support Officers will meet with you; we will ensure you have a completed housing application form with all the correct details. We will offer you advice and will refer you to a specialist officer where necessary.
Surgeries run at the following times:
- Monday: 9:30am to 12:45pm and 2pm to 4pm
- Tuesday: 9:30am to 12:45pm and 2pm to 4pm
- Wednesday: 2pm to 4pm
- Thursday: 9:30am to 12:45pm and 2pm to 4pm
- Friday: 9:30am to 12:45pm and 2pm to 4pm
Please note that outside of surgery times, you will only be seen if you are 'emergency homeless' (homeless tonight). Otherwise please wait until the next available surgery time.
Alternatively, please call 01455 238141 and ask for the Housing Options Team for assistance.
If you find yourself immediately homeless out of hours, please contact the Control Centre on 01455 251137.
