The Local Plan
What is the Local Plan?
The Local Plan was formally adopted by the council in February 2001 and sets out detailed policies and specific proposals for the development and use of land within the borough. It guides most day-to-day planning decisions.
The Local Plan, together with the Local Development Framework (LDF) (which will eventually replace the Local Plan), form part of the statutory development plan for the borough.
The LDF will comprise of a number of documents, including the Core Strategy which was adopted in December 2009.
Since the Core Strategy was adopted some of the policies in the Local Plan have been replaced. A list of these expired policies is available to view below.
The list of saved policies continue to form part of the Local Plan. Supplementary Planning Guidance in support of these policies provide additional detail and guidance on the policies within the Local Plan.
