Large items and electrical items - what we collect

We now collect two types of large item: 

• General bulky items (also known as non-POPS)
• Upholstered items (also known as POPS)

General bulky items

If the item(s) you need removing are listed below, you can book a collection with us. Up to three items from the list below will cost £35, and any additional items will be a further £10. A maximum of five general bulky items can be booked at the same time. 

Items we collect:

• Barbecue (gas, electrical and if they have electrical components)
• Bathroom cabinet (no glass/no mirror)
• Bed base (with headboard only if attached)
• Bedside cabinet
• Bicycle
• Bookcase
• Carpet (each room of carpet is one item, underlay is also a separate item per room)
• Chest of drawers
• Computers
• Cookers or ovens (gas or electric)
• Cooker hob (gas or electric)
• Cooker hood (electrical)
• Cot
• Cot mattress
• Desk
• Dining chair (dining, kitchen garden, carver) non-upholstered
• Dishwasher
• Dressing table (no mirror)
• Exercise machine
• Fire surround (not containing asbestos)
• Freezer
• Fridge (including larder type)
• Fridge/freezer combined (including American style)
• Garden bench
• Garden table (no glass)
• Garden tools
• Garden waste (up to four standard size black bags)
• Gripper rods
• Headboard (if separate from bed base)
• Ironing board
• Keyboard
• Kitchen appliances
• Lamp
• Lawn mowers (not petrol or ride on)
• Laundry basket
• Mattress
• Microwave

• Music system (hi-fi)

• Wardrobe free-standing/not fitted (dismantled, no mirrors)

Upholstered items

If the item(s) you need removing are listed below, you can book a collection with us for these items. Up to two items from the list below will cost £35, and any additional items will be a further £15. A maximum of five upholstered items can be booked at the same time.

Items we collect:

• Upholstered armchair/lounge chair 
• Upholstered chairs (dining, kitchen, garden, carver)
• Upholstered footstool
• Settee or sofa
• Sofa bed
• Upholstered home office chairs 
• Futons
• Bean bags 
• Floor and sofa cushions

Further information

Small electrical items (appliances) such as hair dryers, curling tongues, irons and kettles can be recycled by using the special pink banks around the borough
