Planning Policy
Function of the Local Plan The Hinckley & Bosworth Local Plan sets out detailed policies and specific proposals for the development and use of land within the Borough and will guide most day-to-day planning decisions within that time. The Local Plan, together with the Leicestershire Structure Plan, Leicestershire Minerals Local Plan and the Leicestershire Waste Local Plan, form the statutory Development Plan for the Borough. The Hinckley & Bosworth Local Plan was adopted February 2001. Prior to the adoption of the Local Development Framework the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 allows for the Hinckley and Bosworth Local Plan to retain Development Plan status until 28 September 2007 (three years from commencement of the Act). At the end of that period they will cease to form part of the development plan unless the Secretary of State has extended them. A list of the policies in the Local Plan that have now expired is available to view below and are now no longer part of the Hinckley and Bosworth Local Plan. A list of saved policies is also available below and they now remain part of the Local Plan until they are superseded by the adoption of the LDF documents. Policies within the Local Plan will be referred to as Saved Policies and will remain the basis upon which development control decisions will be made. The Local Plan Format The Local Plan comprises of a Written Statement and a Proposals Map. The Written Statement sets out the policies to guide development and specific land use proposals. Each policy and proposal is accompanied by a reasoned justification, setting out the Local Planning Authority's reasons for the inclusion of the policy or proposal. The Proposals Map identifies part of the Borough where individual policies apply. A copy of the Local Plan can be downloaded below or via the Planning Portal website, alternatively you can purchase a copy from the Development Services Team at a cost of £65 including postage and packing.
