What is the scheme?
The £50 million scheme offers a one off £400 grant towards the replacement of inefficient 'G-rated' or worse boilers with modern 'A-rated' boilers which could save the householder upto £235 a year for the average home.

Would I qualify?
The scheme is open to homeowners and landlords who let homes but not to installers, social landlords or housing associations and applies to England only.

Homeowners who are under 60 will have to have a working G-rated boiler to qualify, but for the over 60's, the boiler does not have to be working.

Oil fired boilers of a similar age are also likely to qualify. To check your boilers rating and see if it qualifies, please call the Energy Savings Trust (EST) free on 0800 512012.

What do I do next?
If your boiler is eligible, you can arrange for a quote for a new one from a qualified installer. You will then need to phone the EST with the details including confirmation of the quote. They will then issue you with a voucher worth £400 which is valid for 12 weeks. Once the boiler is replaced, settle the bill with the installer and claim back the £400 from the EST.

Also worth checking?
Some energy suppliers have similar schemes in operation with up to £800 being available towards the cost of replacement boilers. Check with your energy supplier for the best deal.
