Licensing

In accordance with the law, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council issue, renew and enforce a wide range of licences and registrations. For the most part they ensure public safety and public order, however some licences and registrations are issued to protect the environment in a number of different ways.

In view of this, licences and registrations fall under two areas: licences issued by the council as the licensing authority and local authority licences.

Licensing Authority Licences:

• Charities Act 2006 (new legislation on Charitable Collections for 2010)
• Gambling Act 2005 (Lottery, Premises Licence, Gambling Machines, Raffle)
• House-to-house collections (Charitable Collections - door to door)
• Hypnosis (Performances of Hypnotism)
• Licensing Act 2003 (Licences for Clubs, Pubs and Hot Food Take-Aways)
• Rival Markets Licence (Car Boot Sales, Craft Fairs, Antique Fairs)
• Sex Shops (Licence to sell sex articles, Adult DVD's)
• Street Collection (Cash donations - Charitable Collections on Public Highways)
• Taxi Licences (Taxi and Private Hire, Vehicle, Driver and Operator Licences)
• Designated Public Place Order (DPPO)
• Pubwatch
