Neighbourhood Wardens

A brief introduction to your Neighbourhood Wardens.

Neighbourhood Wardens are the 'eyes and ears' of our community. They aim to provide the vital link between the community and a wide range of local organisations, which will include the Police and Fire Service. They will maintain a highly visible presence on the streets and you will easily see them in their distinctive navy and light blue uniforms and high-visibility jackets.

When an issue is reported to them, they will deal with the problem themselves or work with their partners to find a solution. That is where you can help by talking to them so that action can be taken. They also aim to undertake a whole variety of community projects such as meetings and sharing ideas with people of all ages and backgrounds.

The warden's key responsibilities are:

  • To deliver a cleaner, greener and safer environment
  • To ensure prompt action on litter, fly tipping, vandalism, dog fouling, fly posting and graffiti
  • To target issues such as discarded needles and faulty street lighting
  • To identify and report abandoned vehicles
  • To provide information of the Borough Council services
  • To respond to community safety enquiries from the public
  • To be a reassurance to the public to reduce the fear of crime

They will always act with integrity, common sense and will show tolerance, understanding and courtesy. Remember, they're always here to help.

Service standards:

  • To remove reported dog fouling within 1 working day
  • To remove reported offensive graffiti within 1 working day
  • To remove reported non-offensive graffiti within 2 - 5 working days
  • To remove reported fly tips within 2 - 5 working days
  • To remove reported abandoned vehicles within 5 working days

Next time you see your Neighbourhood Warden why not stop them and have a chat!
