Look out for our events calendar (pdf, 2331 KB) detailing all our events throughout 2010, together with the January to June edition of the borough events guide (pdf, 433KB) which also includes community events across the borough. This events guide and also the new July to December 2010 edition is available to download or collect from local libraries and various outlets and tourist attractions throughout the borough.

The Borough Council is proud of its achievements in delivering high quality events for local residents and visitors to enjoy. Over a sustained period the number of events have increased and therefore the public's expectations have grown.

The rationale for having a dynamic events programme is to ensure that the authority achieves the following:

  • Develop and raise cultural awareness
  • Organise events that cater for niche markets
  • Increase footfall into the town centres
  • Increase the economic viability of the town centres
  • Promote the authority
  • Ensure events are fun and safe

All events are developed with the Town Centre Partnership. Ian Daniels, Chair of the Town Centre Partnership said: 'Local businesses are proud to be involved in this exciting calendar of events and are pleased to offer our support. We look forward to working with the Borough Council and its partners in producing a diverse and exciting programme of events.'

Business Support
If you are a local business we invite you to participate and promote as many events as possible. This could take the form of advertising the events within your premises through to creating a window display themed to the event.

Event Toolkit
Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council has produced an event toolkit, which has been designed to provide information for all community groups, organisations and parish and town councils within the borough, who wish to arrange outdoor events on parks, highways or other public spaces. It provides guidance for all stages of planning and organising an event safely, whilst leaving scope for flexibility to take account of the exact nature and size of your event.

The forms within the Event Toolkit may be completed electronically; these are the events application form the event evaluation form the event participation form and the risk assessment form.

Would you or your local company like to support or fund one of the events contained within this publication? If you would like further information on how we could work together then please contact Simon on 01455 255699.

Partnership Working
There are many opportunities where your school or organisation could work in partnership. We are actively encouraging organisations to 'piggy back' onto our events. For example, have you some consultation or research that will be required in 2008? Why not have a presence at one of our events where you will be guaranteed a captive audience! For more information or to share your ideas then please contact Sherrilee on 01455 255893.

Volunteers
We are always seeking volunteers who could assist in any of the events detailed within this publication. For opportunities as to how you or your organisation can get involved please call Sherrilee on 01455 255893.

Boroughwide Events
To complement the Hinckley Town Centre events a bi-annual events guide incorporating many other events within the borough is produced and distributed. The latest editions covering January to June and July to December 2010 are both included below. You can publicise your event in this leaflet for free! Simply call 01455 255856 and ask for Paula Padmore. Alternatively, return the application form provided below, giving full details of your event.
