The first "no cold calling" zone for Hinckley and Bosworth Borough has been set up in George Foster Close, Earl Shilton. The area was picked out by Hinckley and Bosworth Crime and Disorder Partnership as being vulnerable to distraction burglary and the official launch of the scheme took place on 20/2/07 and was attended by the Mayor of Earl Shilton, Councillor Roger Ellis, and the Leader of the Council and the crime and disorder partnership, Councillor Mike Bevins. The scheme bans cold callers from George Foster Close helping to protect vulnerable residents from conmen and rogue traders. Plans for more cold calling zones in the borough are already underway. -
A council property on Mount Avenue, Barwell was repossessed on March 8th after the tenancy agreement had been breached as a result of drug dealing activity taking place at the address.
