Free Discovery Weekend at Hinckley Leisure Centre

HINCKLEY’S new leisure centre is holding a free Discovery Weekend on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May to welcome people to the brand new £15m facility.

The discovery weekend will take place on both days, with activities taking place on Saturday from 10am to 9pm and Sunday 10am to 2pm, and offers everyone the chance to try out the new facilities for free.

Swimming is free in the main pool, community pool and splash pad between 11.30am and 5pm on Saturday and from 9am until 4.50pm on Sunday. 

The adventure soft play area will be free from 8am until 6pm on Saturday and from 8am until 2pm on Sunday for play sessions of up to one hour (maximum of 36 children at any one time). The adventure soft play area is suitable for babies and children aged up to 12 years and children must be supervised by an adult.

There will be activity taster sessions in activities as diverse as gymnastics, circus skills, roller skating and family orienteering. All activity tasters are free, but pre-booking is required for Sunday’s sessions.

A glow stick juggler will be entertaining visitors on Saturday afternoon, plus there will be a live singer and Oak FM DJs Mark and Twiggy will be giving members the chance to win an ipad or a fit bit. There will also be free giveaways, a stilt walker, free face painting and a chance to meet Hansom the Friendly Tiger. 

Later on in the evening there will be a grand balloon release at 7pm and Saturday will be rounded off with a fireworks display at 8.45pm

Meanwhile on Sunday there will be a host of free taster activities on offer including an orienteering sports treasure hunt in Argents Mead and football zorbing. Afterwards, participants can reward themselves with a hot drink in the new café. Booking is essential for Sunday’s activities.

Saturday 7 May:

  • Creepy Crawlies activities from 10am to 2pm
  • Gymnastics and Trampoline sessions from 10am to 2pm
  • Live mass Shabam dance class for all at 2.30pm
  • Sk8house (family taster) from 3pm to 6pm
  • Learn Circus Skills from 12noon to 5pm

Sunday 8 May (booking is essential for Sunday’s sessions):

  • Football from 10am to 11.30am
  • Basketball from 10am to 11.30am
  • Football Zorbing from 12noon to 2pm
  • Family Xplorer – Orienteering outdoors from 10.30am to 11.30am
