Christmas and New Year arrangements

THE following opening times during the Christmas and New Year period have been announced by the Borough Council, together with the arrangements that have been made for various council services:

Council office closing times 

Borough Council services at the Hinckley Hub will be closed on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 December and re-open on Wednesday 27 December at 8.30am.

Borough Council services at the Hinckley Hub will also be closed on Monday 1 January 2018.

Free Parking on Tuesday afternoons in Hinckley

Customers are reminded that, in a joint initiative sponsored by the Borough Council and supported by Hinckley Business Improvement District (BID), the Borough Council will be allowing free parking in all council car parks every Tuesday afternoon in December in order to thank shoppers for their loyalty and to increase trade for shops and businesses.

The free parking offer applies from 1pm on Tuesday 5, 12 and 19 December in all council run short stay and long stay car parks in Hinckley town centre.

Hinckley Leisure Centre

Hinckley Leisure Centre will close at 1pm on 24 December (last admission at 12pm) and remain closed on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 December. The Centre’s opening hours will be from 7am to 6pm from Wednesday 27 to Saturday 30 December. The centre will close at 4pm on Sunday 31 December and remain closed on Monday 1 January 2018. The Centre will revert to normal opening hours from 6:30am on Tuesday 2 January. For further information including the swim and class timetable visit the Leisure Centre’s website.

Hinckley Market at Christmas

Over the Christmas period there will be a market every day from Friday 15 December to Saturday 22 December. There will be no market on Monday 25 December or Monday 1 January 2018. Markets will be back to the usual Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from Friday 5 January 2018.

Refuse & recycling arrangements
There will be alternate arrangements for collections due on Monday 25 December, Tuesday 26 December and Monday 1 January. All other refuse and recycling collections will continue as usual during the Christmas and New Year period. However, the garden waste (brown bin) collection service will be suspended for two weeks during the Christmas and New Year period (Tuesday 19 December – Monday 1 January 2018 inclusive). 

Alternate arrangements for refuse (black bin) and recycling (blue-lid bin) collections due on Monday 25 December, Tuesday 26 December and Monday 1 January are as follows:

  • Refuse due on Monday 25 December will be collected on Friday 22 December
  • Recycling (blue-lid) due on Monday 25 December will be collected on Saturday 23 December
  • Refuse due on Tuesday 26 December will be collected on Wednesday 27 December
  • Recycling (blue-lid) due on Tuesday 26 December will be collected on Saturday 30 December
  • Refuse due on Monday 1 January will be collected on Friday 29 December
  • Recycling (blue-lid) due on Monday 1 January will be collected on Saturday 6 January 2018

Community Houses

Gwendoline Community House will close for the Christmas period on Thursday 15th December at 2.15pm, Earl Shilton Community House will close for the Christmas period on Wednesday 20th December at 4pm and Barwell Community House will close for the Christmas period on Thursday 21 December at 5pm.
Barwell Community House will reopen at 9.15am on Tuesday 2 January and Gwendoline and Earl Shilton Community Houses will reopen at 9.15am on Wednesday 3 January 2018.
