Local Plan review 2016 to 2036

Reviewing the Local Plan

It's important to make sure we have an up-to-date local plan so that planning decisions can be made with local people having a say on setting local policies.

We are currently working on a new Local Plan which will set out land allocations and planning policies for the period 2016 to 2036.

Future stages

  • Draft Local Plan (Early 2020 - Local Development Scheme to be updated in due course)
This document is a key stage of the Local Plan preparation. It sets out the council’s preferred spatial strategy and preferred policy approach for the emerging Local Plan
  • Pre-submission (May 2020 to July 2020)
The pre-submission stage of the Local Plan Review is the publication of the proposed document and supporting evidence.
  • Estimated examination in public (April 2021)
This stage is when the final Local Plan is submitted to the Planning Inspector for examination. Following a successful examination, the Local Plan will be adopted

We aim to have a new local plan adopted in 2021.
