The building regulations are a set of minimum standards for the design and construction of building work in England and Wales. The regulations set standards for the following areas:

  • Boilers, flues and chimneys, oil tanks and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) storage
  • Protection from falling from stairs, and exposed floors
  • Energy efficiency
  • Accessibility and use of buildings
  • Safety glass
  • Electrical safety in dwellings
