Party Wall etc. Act 1996

About the act

The Party Wall etc. Act may apply if you are intending to carry out any work which involves one of the following:

  • Working on an existing party wall or structure
  • Erecting a wall either free standing or as part of a structure up to or astride the boundary
  • Carrying out excavation works within three or six metres of a neighbouring building or structure, depending on depth

Please note that The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may still apply even if a building regulations application is not required.
