What to do if you are homeless

Drop-in surgeries

If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness within the next 56 days, you will need to get in contact with our Housing Options Team.

We run drop-in surgeries at the council offices in Hinckley where you can get advice and assistance to help prevent homelessness. You are seen on a first-come, first-served basis and no appointment is necessary.

Prior to your interview with a Housing Officer you will be asked to complete a housing option assessment form.

Surgeries run at the following times:

  • Monday: 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday: 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Thursday: 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Friday: 9:30am to 12:30pm

Please note that outside of surgery times, you will only be seen if you are 'emergency homeless' (homeless tonight). Otherwise please wait until the next available surgery time.

Alternatively, please call 01455 238141 and ask for the Housing Options Team for assistance.

If you find yourself immediately homeless out of hours, please contact the Control Centre on 01455 251137.
