What was it about?
Leicestershire County Council asked its residents to give their views on proposed improvements to transport in Hinckley, Barwell and Earl Shilton
The Leicestershire County Council work represented the third phase of a four-part project which aimed to improve access, reduce congestion and provide a boost to the local economy.
The proposals cost around one million and would be funded through the County Council’s Local Transport Plan, and funding secured from the Leicester and Leicestershire Economic Partnership.
The consultation period ran from 4 December 2014 to 16 January 2015 where local residents were encouraged to have their say on the plans as well as minor revisions to previous proposals in the Burbage area. The proposals included:
- Creating new one-way systems
- Creating shared use footways/cycleways on existing routes
- Introducing traffic calming features
Local residents were encouraged view the proposals and have their say.
Several consultation sessions took place.
