What was it about?
The council sought views on a design for a children’s play area to be on land next to Hinckley's new leisure centre in Argents Mead.
The new play area has been designed for toddlers and primary age children and is earmarked to go behind the leisure centre in the space formerly occupied by the council offices’ 'rotunda'. Earlier plans of the leisure centre construction site had located the play area to the side, but it has now been proposed to move it in order to maximise the clear, grassed area being formed for school use. The proposed equipment is designed to blend into the site using natural materials and will fit around existing trees.
A public consultation event took place in the Argents Mead bandstand on Monday 5 October and Friday 9 October where local residents were encouraged to go along to see the designs, make comments and have any questions answered by council officers.
The consultation closed Monday 12 October.
Your comments will be used to inform and enhance the final design of the play area.
It is hoped that work can begin on constructing the new play area as soon as early this year so that it opens at the same time as the new leisure centre in spring 2016.
