What is a townscape heritage initiative?
A townscape heritage initiative is a heritage-led regeneration programme which helps to improve the historic environment of conservation areas in need of investment. Applications to the Heritage Lottery Fund can be made for a grant from £100,000 to £2million. For more information view the Townscape Heritage Initiative guide.
Residents, the local business community and members of the public who have an interest in the town centre were encouraged to get involved, together with:
- Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council Members
- Hinckley Business Improvement District (BID)
- Hinckley & District Chamber of Trade
- Local Civic Groups and Hinckley Museum
The council asked the local business community and members of the public if they were interested in receiving a grant, training, being involved in activities and events, or being kept up to date with the initiative to inform Mr Paul Grundy, Conservation Officer using the contact details below.
During public consultation on the Townscape Heritage Initiative the council received five responses from letters sent to the local business community, eight comments via the website and two responses from the information boards on display at the library and manned events. 14 out of the 15 responses supported the council’s application to the Heritage Lottery Fund. The responses and comments were analysed and incorporated into the development of the first-round application which was submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund at the end of August 2016.
