Have your say on the 2016 to 2020 Economic Regeneration Strategy
What was is it all about?
The Borough Council believes that a strong local economy is key and we want to do everything we can to make this borough a place where businesses want to settle and can flourish. That's why economic regeneration remains a key corporate priority, building on the success of the previous Economic Regeneration Strategy that was adopted in 2009.
Since then, there have been a number of changes that have driven us to take a fresh look at that strategy and make changes that will take us forward to 2020. These include the challenges and opportunities identified from a detailed economic assessment that was commissioned in 2015 and the increasingly important role local economic partnerships play in securing government funding for local economic initiatives.
This strategy sets out the vision and aims for ensuring the whole borough prospers from economic growth over the next four years. It is supported by a detailed action plan aligned to the key objectives of this strategy.
How you could get involved
The strategy was out for a consultation period of seven weeks where we asked for your views on the following questions:
- Do you agree with the key aims and objectives put forward in the strategy?
- Are there any key aims and objectives that you are concerned about?
- Do you have any further key actions that could be included?
- Do you have any other comments on the strategy?
The results of the consultation have been taken into consideration in the final Economic Regeneration Strategy 2016-2020. The document is available to download on the regeneration pages of the council's website.
How the results improve the council
We have considered and taken on board all comments made by both the business community and local residents to ensure that we have covered all matters that relate to our ambition to create a vibrant place in which to work and live.
