Hollycroft Park consultation

What was it about?

A view of the bandstand at Hollycroft Park in Hinckley

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council’s Green Spaces Team carried out this consultation to find out people’s views on the current facilities at Hollycroft Park and also to get ideas for future improvements to the park.

The results of this consultation will help to develop a new management plan for the site for a further ten years.

The following is a summary of the results of the consultation carried out to find out people’s current opinion of Hollycroft Park and to find out what improvements people would like us to make to the site.

There were a total of 151 respondents, the majority of which visit the park weekly closely followed by daily visits. Only two respondents had never visited the park, the reasons stated were either that they lived too far away or that there was a lack of suitable recreation and sporting facilities available. The main reason people gave for visiting the park was to attend community and musical events, closely followed by to relax and then walking or jogging.

When asked how people viewed the quality of the facilities and amenities within the park, the majority of the current features were considered to be good or very good, with the flower beds and shrub beds considered very good. Only the toilets were considered to be adequate, poor or very poor with the majority of the respondents.

With regards to the proposed possible improvements to the park, lighting to the parks scored highest, followed by improving/creating areas to encourage wildlife, increased use of the pavilion, improvements to the bandstand area and outdoor gym equipment. The most requested additional events in the park were health walks and outdoor keep fit sessions together with morning coffee clubs.
