A NEW art exhibition opens at the Atkins Gallery in Hinckley next week.
The work of over 50 artists will be represented at the Coventry University Drawing Prize Exhibition, which opens at the gallery in the Atkins Building on Wednesday (15 April).
Now in its sixth year, the exhibition has been organised by staff and students at the university, with each artist represented by one piece to demonstrate a variety of approaches.
In addition to detailed works of portraiture, still-life and landscape, there are three dimensional items, collages and animations to convey the range of imaginative and innovative drawing techniques and applications.
The prize is currently open to all staff and students, past and present, from Coventry University and in the longer term it is planned that the catchment area for entry into the competition will be extended to the whole of the West Midlands region.
Although the exhibition opens on 15 April, an evening viewing will take place on Thursday 16 April from 6pm, which everyone is welcome to attend. Café Español will be open and serving drinks and authentic Spanish dishes.
The exhibition will run until 7 May.
