VOTING has now started in the quest to find Hinckley & Bosworth's sporting heroes of 2017.
The organisers of the borough's 11th annual sports awards competition, Hinckley & Bosworth Sport and Health Alliance (HBSHA), are urging people to nominate those individuals and teams whose success deserves to be more widely celebrated.
It could be someone whose dedication, commitment or performance has excelled this year within their sport; someone who has been an inspiration; someone who has always gone that extra mile to support others; or someone who has changed their life around for the better through sport.
Nominations are needed for a number of categories, including:
• Coach of the Year
• Clubs of the Year
• Disabled Athlete Awards
• Volunteering Awards
• Unsung Heroes
• Junior Awards and School Awards
• Active Business of the Year Award (New for 2017)
Executive Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure at the Borough Council, Cllr Maureen Cook said: “Having seen at first hand some of the young people representing our borough during the last year, I am more than aware of the commitment, enthusiasm and comradery which benefits our community from coaches, organisers, participants and voluntary organisations. I am delighted to support the Awards and I urge you to nominate “your” hero before 30th October.”
Nomination forms are available online at sports-award (hbsha.org.uk) Nominations will close at 12 noon on Monday 30 October. The awards evening will be held on 15 November at Bosworth Academy.
