Equalities - our workforce and community
We are committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, accessibility and equality across all of our services - both as an employer and as a service provider.
We comply with the Equality Act 2010 through specific policies and processes. This commitment is further outlined in our Corporate Equality Scheme.
In addition, the council is a member of the Leicestershire Equalities Partnership, which has furthered our work in the area of equality and diversity.
We have successfully attained the achieving level of the Equality Framework for Local Government. Which is a tool which enables local authorities to uphold their legal duties under the Equality Act 2010 through council policy and practice at all levels. It recognises the importance of fair treatment and equal access to council services and employment.
All new employees of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, are required as part of their induction to the council and its services, to learn more about why equality and diversity is important to the council and their role in helping to promoting equality and diversity.
The council also has a corporate equalities steering group which meets on a regular basis to discuss and address equality and diversity related issues.
