Central heating repairs 

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is responsible for maintaining and repairing the heating and hot water systems in your home, including boilers, pipework, and radiators. We ensure repairs are carried out by appropriately qualified engineers, including Gas Safe registered engineers.

Repairs to appliances you own remain your responsibility. 

Reporting a heating repair 

To report a heating repair contact 01455 238141 and select option one.

Our opening hours:

• Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5pm
• Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
• For emergencies outside these hours call 01455 251137

Repair response times:

• Emergency repairs are attended within 24 hours
• Urgent repairs are completed within five working days
• Routine repairs are completed within 20 working days

We aim to complete repairs on the first visit wherever possible. 

Gas servicing and safety 

We carry out annual gas safety checks in every council property. You must allow access for these inspections as they are a legal requirement. 

Your responsibilities 

Report faults promptly, allow access for appointments, maintain your own appliances, and take reasonable steps to prevent damage such as protecting pipes in cold weather. 

Appointments and access 

Non-emergency repairs are by appointment. Flexible appointments are offered and reminders may be provided. Missed appointments may result in a recharge. 

Supporting vulnerable residents 

If you or a household member has additional needs, inform us so we can prioritise and tailor our service. 

Gas emergencies 

If you smell gas call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately and avoid electrical switches or naked flames.
