Health roadshows start in Barwell

Published 10 February 2012

A ROADSHOW event will be taking place in Barwell later this month with the aim of improving the health and well-being of local residents.

It will be held at Barwell’s George Ward Centre on Thursday 23 February between 2.30pm and 6.30pm and is the first of a series of roadshows that will be held throughout Hinckley & Bosworth this spring by the Borough Council. They will help people to make positive changes to their lives and will include free blood pressure and BMI checks.

As well as free health screenings, residents will also be able to pick up a range of health and well-being advice including information on quitting smoking, nutrition, physical activity, benefits, housing, adult education and much more.

There will also be fun exercise challenges for all ages and free healthy snacks to try during the afternoon.

The Barwell roadshow will also coincide with the opening ceremony of the new police unit, which will be based at the George Ward Centre. The official opening will take place at 1.30pm and police officers will be around to come and meet throughout the afternoon.

Other roadshows will be held as follows:

  • Wednesday 28 March (2.30pm to 6.30pm): Westfield Community Centre, Rosemary Way (off Coventry Road) Hinckley.
  • Thursday 26 April (2.30pm to 6.30pm): Bagworth Community Centre, Station Road, Bagworth.
  • Tuesday 22 May (2.30pm to 6.30pm): Wykin Social Club, Frederick Avenue, Hinckley.
