New Sunday car boot sale in Hinckley

Published Tuesday, 09 July 2013

A new Sunday car boot, craft and food Fayre will be open for business in Hinckley town centre for the first time this weekend.

Hinckley Car Boot, Craft & International Food Fayre - Indigo Street is a new initiative that aims to give people the chance to resell their unwanted items and encourage more shoppers into the town on a Sunday.

The Borough Council, with the backing of the Hinckley Town Centre Partnership and Hinckley BID, has appointed a local consortium of business owners to run the new car boot using the council’s market stalls. The market stalls will be left in place on Castle Street and Market Place following the usual Saturday market.

The Car Boot, Craft & International Food Fayre will run from 10am until 4pm in Castle Street and Market Place every Sunday from 14 July for a trial period of three months.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council Leader Councillor Stuart Bray welcomed the new initiative. He said:

“This is a great way to support our local town centre traders and bring more people into the town on a Sunday. I would urge everyone to take advantage of free parking on a Sunday and come into the town to hunt out a bargain.”

Organiser Darren Brown, owner of Indigo Brown Interiors on Regent Street, said:

“The emphasis is on getting people into the town. There are a lot of new shops here and there are a lot of local people working hard in these economic times, so if this gives them the chance to showcase what they have, it will hopefully keep people in the town.

It is all looking positive and the council are behind us and Hinckley BID are really behind us as well. We all need to work together to ensure that this town survives.”

For the first four weeks the organisers are offering an introductory price of £10 for a market stall, £7 for a van or £5 for anyone who uses their own table. Prices for food stalls are by negotiation.

Anyone who wishes to book a pitch or would like more information should contact Darren Brown on 07885 913298 or simply call into Indigo Home on Regent Street, Hinckley. The organisers have also created a facebook page which can be found by searching under facebook for Hinckley Car Boot, Craft & International Food Fayre - Indigo Street.
