Independent members required for the Independent Remuneration Panel

We are looking for at least three members of the local community, particularly the voluntary or business sector, to join our Independent Panel, which makes recommendations to Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council on the allowances and expenses payable to councillors.

The panel usually meets once or twice a year and is supported by officers of the council. This is a voluntary position but travel expenses will be payable.

Applicants should be:

  • Over 21
  • Not have active connections with any political party
  • Possess questioning skills and be able to consider evidence and form sound judgements
  • Have an awareness of the way councils work

Members and employees of Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council are not eligible to sit on the panel, nor is anyone who would be disqualified from becoming a councillor.

Interviews will take place week commencing 13 October and the first meeting of the panel will take place week commencing 3 November.
