Christmas lights switch-on and Tin Hat Fair

About the event

Father Christmas waving at the crowd

This year's Christmas festivities will get underway on Friday 17 November when the Christmas lights in Hinckley will be switched on.

The evening will get started at around 4pm, with performances on stage and Leicester Tigers stars Manu Tuilagi and Logovi’l Mulipola will be switching on the lights with the Deputy Mayor at 6.25pm. Please note the lightly earlier switch-on time which is to accommodate a Central News TV crew, who will be broadcasting the event live and need to adhere to their pre-determined slot in the programme schedule. Once the lights have been switched on, there will be a fantastic fireworks display over St Mary's Church.

Reindeer, live entertainment, market stalls, late night shopping, a large fair and much more will fill the town centre as part of the celebrations. There will also be children’s crafts in the United Reformed Church for part of the evening. The fair will also be in the town centre from 11am to 9pm on Saturday 18 November.

The Christmas lights switch-on is accompanied by a bustling market which runs the length of Castle Street. The market is made up of Friday market stallholders who have opted to stay on for the evening, a variety of arts and craft stalls, charity stalls raising funds for their chosen charity, food and drink stalls.
