Spooktacular Saturday – 31 October

From 10am to 3pm

Families and shoppers are being warned to keep an eye out for ghosts, ghouls, witches, and wizards as Hinckley’s popular Spooktacular Saturday returns to the town centre on Saturday 31 October.

Taking place in the haunted Britannia Shopping Centre, the free family event will offer a host of Halloween-themed activities, including pumpkin bowling, creepy crafts, face painting, and entertainment from a themed stilt walker.

Children are encouraged to come dressed in their best Halloween costumes, with all fancy-dress participants receiving a Halloween medal, subject to availability, and trophies up for grabs in the best-dressed competition.

Remembrance Sunday – 8 November

Residents are invited to pay their respects at Hinckley’s annual Remembrance Sunday service on Sunday 8 November at the Argents Mead war memorial.

Led by Reverend Ian Hill of St Mary’s Church, the service will begin just before 11am and will include contributions from local churches, the Royal British Legion, veterans’ groups, civic leaders and youth organisations.

Parades will take place before and after the service, and all are welcome to attend. Visitors are asked to arrive at the memorial gardens by 10.45am.

Lights in the Mead - 20 November to 6 January

Thousands of twinkling fairy lights in hues of green, blue and pink will adorn the trees, pathways and bandstand in Argents Mead from Friday 20 November 2026 until Tuesday 6 January 2027. The 'Lights in the Mead' will be turned on in zones on the night of Hinckley's Christmas Light Switch-on from 5pm on Friday 20 November 2026, with all the lights being on in the Mead from 6:30pm until late that evening. 'Lights in the Mead' will then be on daily, every evening thereafter (Saturday 21 November 2026) until Tuesday 6 January 2027, alongside the town centre's Christmas lights and Christmas tree in the marketplace.

Christmas Lights Switch On - 20 November

From 4pm to 8pm

This year's Christmas festivities will come to light in Hinckley on Friday 20 November with the cheerful start of the Christmas Lights Switch-on festival. Celebrations will feature live entertainment, food and market stalls, late night shopping, a large fair and much more, all packed into this festive evening. The Tin Hat Fair will continue on Saturday 21 November.
