Guidance on permitted development rights
What this means
Permitted development rights allow you to extend buildings, change uses and undertake works without applying for planning permission.
Please refer to Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development (England) Order 2015 (legislation.gov.uk) for detailed information about these changes.
On 15 April 2015, the government made changes to legislation to introduce new permitted development rights. In some cases you will need to give us prior notification and details, as specified in the legislation, rather than applying for planning permission.
In most cases, we will need to determine whether prior approval is necessary. We will do this when you initially notify us of your change by completing a prior notification form (when you make an application).
