Electrical appliances and furniture disposal
This type of service is often known as 'bulky item collections'.
Suitable for reuse?
If your household items are suitable for reuse then please consider the Leicestershire freeuseit website. This website offers a simple way for residents in the Leicestershire area to advertise items they no longer want, or pick up items they need. All items are free and the site makes it easy for givers and takers to use.
Summary of our collection service
The service is for large, bulky, household items such as furniture, carpets and also electrical goods (often referred to as 'white' goods, such as old fridges, freezers, televisions, microwaves, washing machines). Electrical items will be recycled and where possible the parts will be reused.
This is a chargeable service. The charges detailed below are for the period 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013.
Collections take place every week on your scheduled refuse/garden/recycling collection day. All the items are collected in a van. This means we can collect furniture/household items at the same time as electrical items.
Charges for the collection of between one and three bulky items will be £20 (reduced charges available - please go to the frequently asked questions for full details). For collections of four or five items the charge will be £30. Requests need to be booked and paid for before collection can take place. We can take bookings/payment over the telephone or by visiting our Council Offices. See the frequently asked question section for more information. Payment online is currently not available.
