Active Together Hinckley & Bosworth aims to increase the levels of physical activity for people living in the borough.

The scheme is part of a wider physical activity initiative across Leicestershire. Funding is provided annually from Public Health and Leicestershire County Council with the aim to improve the health of the population through sport and physical activity interventions.

Active Together co-ordinators will work with local communities to increase levels of physical activity and sport so that more people are exercising to achieve the recommended 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity per week. This can be achieved through a number of activities including walking, swimming, cycling, structured sport, gentle exercise or simply by making adjustments to your working day.

The project is supported by Active Together (active-together.org) in conjunction with the Local Sports Alliances (hbsha.org.uk), made up of local councils, primary care trusts and others in the seven districts.

It is hoped that with regular funding and better use of resources we will be able to make a real difference to activity levels, which will have long term benefits in improving the health and quality of life for people in Leicestershire.

The project is not just about getting people to go to the Leisure Centre or a community centre for a few activity sessions; it's about changing behaviours so that people make their way of life more active for a long time.
