Bradgate Stables Options Appraisal
Stables and Kennels at Bradgate House
The Stables and Kennels at Bradgate House, known as Bradgate Stables, are a grade two star listed building. The Stables are on the Heritage at Risk Register (historicengland.org.uk) and the Borough Council has sought to address the issue of its poor and deteriorating condition with the building owner.
With the assistance of a Historic England grant, an Options Appraisal for the Stables was completed in 2024. The Options Appraisal assesses practical uses and development opportunities for the Stables and the wider site which could be acceptable to key stakeholders. Determining a sustainable and long-term solution for the Stables may ultimately result in its removal from the Heritage at Risk Register. The Borough Council has sought engagement with the building owner and other relevant stakeholders regarding the opportunities identified within the Options Appraisal. Any progress in developing and delivering the opportunities identified in the Options Appraisal will be reported on our website.
The Options Appraisal is informed by a number of reports and assessments provided in Appendices B to F.
Due to the sensitivities of the data contained within the Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (Appendix B), this document is not available for public viewing. An ecological overview of the findings is provided within Section 2.8 of the Options Appraisal.
Detailed Cost Reports are contained within Appendix E. A copy of this Appendix can be made publicly available on request. The costs for each option considered are summarised within the Options Appraisal.
It is not considered appropriate for the consultation feedback contained within Appendix F to be made publicly available. Stakeholder engagement is summarised within the Options Appraisal.
Bradgate Stables is located on privately owned land. Please do not make any attempt to access the land or the Stables as you would be trespassing.
