Parking fines

Overview

We are aware of a new text scam that requests payment for a penalty charge notice. Please be aware that this is a scam. You will never be requested to pay a penalty charge notice via an SMS message.

All the pay and display car parks in the borough are regularly patrolled by Hinckley & Bosworth enforcement officers and you will be required to pay a penalty charge notice (parking fine) if you fail to comply with the parking regulations. You pay your penalty charge notice to Leicestershire County Council.

Obstructing vehicles

Vehicles that are parked causing an obstruction on the footpath or on the highway are dealt with by the police, who can be contacted by telephoning 101.

If a vehicle on a public road is blocking a vehicle from leaving your drive, please call 101 if emergency action is needed. Otherwise write to:

Pay a parking fine

You can pay a parking fine to Leicestershire County Council online, by phone with debit or credit card or by cheque. No cash is accepted at Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council offices.

Nuisance parking

The 2005 Act specifies the following two criminal offences by businesses in relation to nuisance parking:

  1. Selling vehicles on a road
  2. Repairing vehicles on a road

The fine for the offence of nuisance parking is: £100 (S6(1) Clean Neighbourhoods & Environmental Act 2005).
