Events and special activities at our parks

Events that are due to take place in our parks and green spaces are included, with full details, in our events calendar

Some of our most popular events are listed below.

Burbage Common Open Day

Burbage Common Open Day was due to take place in May 2023. However, due to adverse weather and ground conditions, this was unfortunately cancelled. We are hoping to reschedule this event for later in the year. Full details in our events calendar: events at Burbage Common

Wild Play sessions at Burbage Common

There are a number of Wild Play events, run by Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust, taking place at Burbage Common over the spring and summer holidays. 

There are two sessions each day: one at 10am to 11.30am, and one at 12.30pm to 2pm. Priced at £5 per child per session. Booking is essential.

Clarendon Park fun fair - Barker's fun fair

This annual event at Clarendon Park will be rearranged from its usual May dates for later in the year. Dates are to be confirmed. This rescheduling is due to current adverse weather and ground conditions. Full details in our events calendar: Barker's fun fair

Hollycroft Park 

The very popular Proms in the Park 2023 will take place on Friday 23 June 2023, 6pm to 8:30pm. Full details in the events calendar: concerts in Hollycroft Park

Friends of Hollycroft Park events

The Friends of Hollycroft park group organise a number of Sunday band concerts on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer, with a variety of music on offer. 

Dates for this year are:

  • Sunday 21 May: Wigston Silver Band
  • Sunday 4 June: Acasia
  • Sunday 18 June: Junction 1
  • Sunday 2 July: JCC Alumni
  • Sunday 16 July: Misterones
  • Sunday 30 July: Mind The Gap
  • Sunday 27 August: Jigantics
  • Sunday 10 September: Take It From The Top
  • Sunday 24 September: Ratby Brass Band 

Other events organised by The Friends of Hollycroft Park are:

  • Friday 21 July: Variety Night
  • Sunday 13 August: Funday

They also organise volunteer gardening sessions from April to October on the first Saturday of the month, from 10am to 12 noon. 

From February until the first week in December, their Community Cafe in the Pavilion is held on the first and third Wednesday of each month 10am to 1pm.

Argents Mead
