Family Fun Day at Burbage Common
The 24th annual open day at Burbage Common takes place on Sunday 13 May, from 10:30am to 4:30pm. The area around the visitor centre at the Leicester Road entrance will hold the main event, with a large marquee accommodating a number of stalls including craft stalls, charity stalls and local and national environmental charities. As well as this, an arena will accommodate a number of displays over the course of the day including maypole dancing, cheer leaders, a falconry display and the Anker Morris Men.
You could join in the fun and enter your dog into our dog show. There will be a number of different categories to accommodate all ages, shapes and sizes of dogs.
Pond dipping, den building and bird box making, amongst other activities, will also be taking place throughout the day, which all the family can take part in.
In addition, there will be demonstrations of traditional countryside crafts including wood turning. If you have found anything unusual in your garden or when out walking in the countryside such as fossils, broken pottery, small unusual pieces of metal, coins or anything else you can bring these items along to the Hinckley Archaeological Society stand and they will help to identify them for you.
You can stock up on tasty local produce when visiting the farmer’s market area, or why not buy a delicious farm house made ice-cream on the day. With many food and refreshments stalls, there’s no need to bring your own.
Admission to the event is FREE, but there may be a small charge for some of the activities and workshops held.
Activities at Burbage Common will re-commence in Summer 2018.
