What's it all about

In 1974, local government reorganisation led to the creation of district councils across Leicestershire, including Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, alongside Leicestershire County Council. These two tiers of local government are responsible for a range of services. Beneath them, parish and town councils offer a localised level of representation and decision-making and are made up of locally elected representatives.

You may have seen in that the government has set out plans for a major reform of local and regional governance, which will effectively abolish all district and county councils in two tier council areas like ours and replace them with single level unitary councils. You can find out more about this in the English Devolution White Paper (GOV.UK)

In light of these plans, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is keen to make sure we keep and improve community engagement and cohesion, local democracy and the delivery of effective local services. To help with this, we’re carrying out a community governance review (CGR).

This review looks at how your community is represented by town or parish councils. It's about making sure the structure and boundaries of councils work for you. Your feedback will help us shape recommendations for possible changes.
