Situated at the very heart of England on the border of the East and West Midlands, Hinckley and Bosworth covers the south west corner of Leicestershire, serving people, communities and businesses in the area.

Our population is around 110,000, covering an area of approximately 30 hectares with 16 wards, 24 parishes and 34 councillors.

Outside of the main towns of Hinckley and other key centres of Burbage, Earl Shilton, Barwell and the historic market town of Market Bosworth, much of the borough, especially in the centre and the west, is a beautiful, predominantly rural area, with our towns and some very picturesque villages surrounded by rolling countryside. 

Hinckley has excellent transport connections. We are ideally located for commuting to major transport links to the cities of Leicester, Coventry and Birmingham being close to the M1, M6, M69, M42 and the A5 and Birmingham and East Midlands international airports.

Our main offices at the Hinckley Hub are within five minutes walk of Hinckley Train station and Hinckley Bus Station and up to 10 minute walk to other sites, including from nearby short and long stay car parks.

The Revenues and Benefits Partnership is based at the Atkins Building in the heart of the town centre on Lower Bond Street and our Cultural Services Team work out of Hinckley Leisure Centre at Argents Mead. Street Scene Services and council house management and repairs teams are at the Jubilee Building on the Harrowbrook industrial estate off Coventry Road near the A5.

Long famous for its 700-year-old national award winning market and annual ‘Tin Hat’ Fun Fair, Hinckley town centre is the borough’s main shopping, administrative, commercial and entertainment centre and has recently undergone a major transformation.

As well as a thriving town centre and events programme including St Georges Day, Feast Hinckley, Town Centre Run, Christmas Lights Switch on and The Soap Box Derby, there is a wide range of national high street chains, lots of great independent shops and terrific family entertainment on offer, with well established variety of restaurants and a cinema.  

The borough has excellent cultural and leisure facilities to suit everyone.

A state of the art new leisure centre has opened in the heart of the town centre. We have Green Flag award winning local parks and fantastic conservation areas, heritage sties and countryside walks across the borough.

We also have great visitor attractions, including:

• The Battle of Bosworth site in Sutton Cheney - is famous for the Battle of Bosworth where King Richard III lost his life in 1485 and Mallory Park racing circuit

There is wide range of housing for all tastes and budgets in both urban (35%) and rural (65%) settings.

The average house price in Hinckley and Bosworth is £211.470, comparatively lower than the average price for England of £240,949 (UK House Price Index England: March 2018). 

There is no shortage of good primary and secondary schools, both public and private.

In terms of GCSE performance, the percentage of pupils achieving Grade 5 or above (A* to C grades) in English and Mathematics is 5% above the national average for all schools in England.

Hinckley is ideally located between Leicester, Coventry and Birmingham, with excellent national transport links.

There are also well established creative and technology community with designers, illustrators, artists and photographers taking up residence in the town, particularly in converted buildings such as the renovated Atkins Building.

83% of the population is economically active and we have a low unemployment rate of 3%.

The council health and wellbeing partnership works with local organisations to improve the health and wellbeing of people in the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth, and to reduce the inequalities in health experienced by some social groups or people living in geographical areas of greater social need.

Life expectancy for both men and women is higher than the England average.

4.6% (England 5.5%) of the local population classify their general health as bad or very bad, with 17% (England 17.6%) having a limiting long term illness or disability.
