Good food Leicestershire partnership

We work closely with partners across the county to support a healthier, more sustainable food system. Good food Leicestershire is a key countywide programme that brings together local organisations, communities, and businesses to create positive change. The initiative forms part of Leicestershire County Council’s long‑term approach to improving community wellbeing and reducing environmental impact.

The partnership focuses on:

  • Strengthening collaboration across Leicestershire
  • Encouraging healthier, more sustainable food choices
  • Supporting projects that reduce carbon emissions and benefit local people

Good food Leicestershire is also part of the national sustainable food places (sustainablefoodplaces.org) network, linking our borough with towns and cities across the UK that are working to transform their food systems.

This work supports several themes in our Climate Change and Biodiversity Strategy 2024–2028, including food and farming, community participation, biodiversity, and waste reduction. These themes outline how we work together to cut emissions, protect nature, and empower residents to take climate‑positive action.
