Peggs Close flats regeneration proposal

Have your say

What was it all about?

The council were seeking tenants' views on the regeneration plans for the flats at Peggs Close, Earl Shilton.

Why were the council consulting on this work?

There are three blocks of flats at Earl Shilton which are a mixture of one and two bedroom flats The council needed to carry out essential safety work on the blocks, which would require tenants to move out whilst the work was under way. As two bedroom flats have become less popular over the years, the council was looking at whether there were better uses for the site. Residents of the flats were consulted on whether they would support demolition of some or all of the flats.

Results

The results of the consultation were included in a report that went to council on 28 November 2023. The recommendation to council, supported by the residents' survey, is that all three blocks of flats should be demolished and replaced with new council houses for rent.
