Items we can't accept

Items which are not accepted inside the bin:

  • Asbestos: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service
  • Large items such as furniture and fridges: Collection can be booked via our bulky collection service
  • Soil and garden waste: Use the council’s garden waste service for smaller amounts of garden waste or book a special collection for soil and clearances
  • Upholstered seating: Collections can be booked via our bulky collection service
  • Large electrical items: Small electrical items which can fit into a carrier bag, can be placed into the electrical bag supplied. Large electricals can be booked via our bulky collection service
  • Gas bottles
  • Full / part full tins of paint: Accepted if empty or fully dried out
  • Large bathroom, kitchen and other household  fittings. For example, baths, sinks, radiators: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service
  • Gas and electric appliances. For example, cookers, boilers, fires: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service or bulky collection service
  • Construction waste such as bricks/building materials, concrete, rubble, slabs, plasterboard, doors, window frames: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service
  • Car parts and car batteries: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service
  • Commercial waste
  • Large quantities of wood: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service
  • Fluorescent tubes, sunbed tubes: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service
  • Panes of glass: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service
  • Tyres: Collections can be arranged via our special collections service
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Chemicals 
  • Oil
  • Fuel
  • Hazardous waste
  • Batteries: These can be taken to the supermarket for recycling
