Tenant scrutiny panel
About the panel
The tenant scrutiny panel consists of an established group of tenants who review areas of housing services and make independent recommendations for improvement.
Our Tenant Influence and Scrutiny Panel brings tenants together to look closely at how our housing services work.
The aim is to assess and improve our housing services for all of our tenants.
The panel helps us to:
- Explore parts of the service that tenants feel aren’t always looked at closely enough
- Focus on issues that matter most to people living in the homes we offer
- Make sure decisions are shaped by real tenant experiences
- Gather a group of tenants who develop specialist knowledge whilst keeping a broad, balanced view
- Work alongside the Service Development Team and service managers to improve services
Get involved
We’re always interested in hearing from tenants who want to join the panel or support future scrutiny projects.

- Ensure tenant experiences are at the heart of how services are designed and delivered
- Identify where services can work better, offering better value for money
- Build positive, constructive relationships between tenants and the council
- Receive clear information about how services operate
- Develop new skills, build confidence and take part in a supportive group setting
Recent scrutiny work
Tenancy management letters review
The panel recently completed a review of the letters tenants receive when we need access for landlord inspections. They found that some letters felt unclear or too formal, and recommended improvements such as:
- Clearer, more straightforward explanations
- Named contacts for tenants
- Better information about the purpose of different types of inspections
Further reports will be added as new projects are completed.
