Competition - food waste collection trucks

Help name our new food waste collection trucks

The new food waste collection service, funded by government, starts from spring 2026. This is part of the government's waste reforms: capturing food waste and recycling it, reduces carbon emissions from waste disposal, and creates a biogas that is renewable and reduces our dependence on fossil fuels.

For fun, we are running a competition to name our new food waste trucks. We need nine food waste trucks, so we need nine names in total.

We are looking for creative, entertaining or inspiring names relating to food waste or recycling, to help residents engage with this important new service.

So, see what truck names you can create from tea bags, peelings, coffee grinds, bones, plate scrapings and burnt toast, for example.

The details:

  • The competition runs from 1 September 2025 to midnight 30 September 2025
  • You can provide up to 10 entries per household (each name needs to be entered separately)
  • Entries can be submitted at different times and by different members of the household
  • Each entry can be up to 25 characters
  • Once you have provided your entries, you won't be able to change them
  • Please visit our terms and conditions before entering
