Recycle on the go
Don't bin it, recycle it!

There are 19 specialised 'on street' recycling bins installed in busy shopping areas and some popular visitor sites in the borough. The special bins are purpose-built to make it easy for users to recycle everyday items such as plastic drinks bottles, drinks cans and newspapers.
Before these bins were introduced, these items were discarded as litter, rather than recycled, because of a lack of convenient recycling facilities.
The recycling bins are designed with a 'street setting' very much in mind. Individual compartments in each bin allow plastic bottles, cans and paper to be collected separately, greatly reducing the possibility of contamination.
In addition, most of the bins are equipped with a separate litter compartment and a separate cigarette bin.
The bins have initially been sited in:
- Hinckley town centre
- Earl Shilton town centre
- Barwell Top Town and Charnwood Road (Costcutter)
- Shopping arcades on Tilton Road (Burbage)
- Hollycroft Park in Hinckley
- Burbage Common near the visitor centre
In addition to the above sites, Tesco Express on London Road, Hinckley, have provided the same style unit at the front of their shop.
These specialised containers would make it much easier for shoppers and visitors to 'recycle on the go'.
